Trip Planning
Virginia told me she had relatives in Glasgow Scotland and we might be able to stay with them if we visited Scotland. She called me on the last day of April, 2018, and told me we had been invited to visit her relatives in Scotland! We have tentative plans to visit them in May of 2019! We will be in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands in November of 2018! Check out photos of Chuck and Virginia as they travel around the world and at home.......
Our Personnal Travel Agent Viviane Tondeur
We asked our travel agent to see what was available as far as taking a Trans Atlantic cruise from New York to England. She replied with the following suggestions! |
Viviane Tondeur - Travel Agent |
Chuck, it looks like you're going to cross off 2 of my bucket lists. Petra and transatlantic crossing. I'm jealous! If any of this sounds good to you, I'll be happy to research prices and special promotions. |

History of the Cunard Line |
Cunard Line is a British-American cruise line based at Carnival House at Southampton, England, operated by Carnival UK and owned by Carnival Corporation Since 2011, Cunard and its three ships have been registered in Hamilton, Bermuda. In 1839 Samuel Cunard, a Halifax shipowner, was awarded the first British transatlantic steamship mail contract, and the next year formed the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company together with Robert Napier, the famous Scottish steamship engine designer and builder, to operate the line's four pioneer paddle steamers on the Liverpool蓬alifax烹oston route. For most of the next 30 years, Cunard held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic voyage. However, in the 1870s Cunard fell behind its rivals, the White Star Line and the Inman Line. To meet this competition, in 1879 the firm was reorganised as the Cunard Steamship Company, Ltd, to raise capital.

Commador Club: Our Travel Agent Viviane Tondeur, setup a special cocktail party for us with a purser at five p.m. We had cocktails and snacks and had an hour of an overview of the Cunard Line and the status of a new ship being built. We learned about the changing of the cruise business. All in all, a great way to start the crossing. There were only six people at the private party and all were from California, four from southern and of course, the two of us from the Bay Area - San Francisco!

We had early seating at the Britannia Restaurant, six p.m. We liked an early dinner as there was much to do after dinner and we wanted to relax and get ready for a late evening. We were on the lower deck of the restaurant with a great view of the ocean. Looking good if I do say so myself!
