Tilt Rotor Plane

Bell XV~15 Tilt Rotor

This plane had multiple problems and many crashes causing several deaths.  It initially was tested at Ames Research in Northern California near San Jose.

The fragile looking plane directly above the tilt rotor is the first plane able to fly by human power alone.  It flew from France to England, across the English Channel.
