Morning Room

The Morning Room, built for use as a parlor, was furnished as a morning room by Mrs. Lee in 1855.  Custis used it as his auxiliary painting studio.

The Revolutionary War scene - the Battle of Monmouth, New Jersey - is one of the largest paintings he produced in this room (It is standing on a frame on the opposite wall).
