I wanted to do something special for my 87th birthday Galapagos Tortoise and found a good cruise for a single traveler online.

I checked online and a few minutes later I got a phone call from a woman working at the travel agency. So nice and helpful, found out she was in Portugal. What a surprise since I have been all over Portugal.

In 2026 I celebrated my 86th birthday in Quito Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

Here I am with one of the tortoise in the high lands of the main island.

Over the years I have celebrated my birthdays in Iceland, Australia, Sicily, Cambodia, Jamaica, Jordan, and many other countries.

And local birthdays in places like Beverly Hills, Honolulu, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, and so on.

Past Trips with my Sister

I usually do not go to the same places very often as I usually want to travel to new locations. I have returned to a few places such as Mexico City and Honolulu. Yvonne & Chuck

After my brother-in-law Ken passed away, my sister Yvonne and I started to travel, she was living in Tucson Arizona. We took a short cruise in 2009 from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas on the Carnival Cruise Line Elation, it was a four day cruise. Here we are having our coffees and enjoying the cruise.This cruise will bring back a lot of memories of our 2009 cruise to Cabo San Lucas.

This 2027 cruise is a seven day cruise and I am taking it because the entire trip, airfare, hotel, transportation and ship, is around $2,000.00. The initial price was so low I actually could get a cabin with a balcony instead of an inside cabin. Such a deal. And a good way to celebrate my 87th birthday!

My sister Yvonne, was born in 1932, I always called her my favorite sister and she would laugh as she was my only sister! We were so close all of our lives and I miss her so much as she passed away in 2019. But, I have a lot of great memories of her and our travels later in her life.

I usually flew to Tucson twice a year to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries or just to sit and have coffee and chat. We loved to play cards and were very serious about winning and losing! And we would sit in the hot tub with a glass of wine in the evening. Good memories.

SFO to LAX - Westin Hotel

I arrived a day early to ensure I didn't reach the sailing too late. This hotel includes pickup at the airport, to the hotel and then the next day to the harbor.

Also, a pickup to the LAX Airport when the ship docks and then the flight back to the SFO Airport in San Francisco.
