20 Minute Writing Test about A Description of My Kitchen

Expressive Writing - Rice University

You should not stop for 20 Minutes, even if you have to repeat yourself.

My kitchen is about eight feet by nine feet. The west side has a sink and a stove and a microwave. Between the stove and the Microwave (on the counter) is one sink with one faucet. To the left of the sink is an electric stove with four burners. There are cabinets below the counter area and also above the counter area. Under the upper counters are hidden lights for ease of viewing the work area. The cabinets are about two feet from the ceiling so there is storage room. On the north side is a small closet for foods and so on. The south wall is empty. The east wall has a refrigerator and next to it is a counter and below several drawers for storage. The walls are white and the floor is covered a dark colored tiles. I have some photos on the walls of my world travels and a movie poster of Elizabeth Taylor of all things. Plus a string of red peppers, fake, I bought in Mexico years ago. Not much else to say about the kitchen, they wanted to take out a drawer and put in a dish washer but I said I needed the storage! So what else can I say about the kitchen, on the west side the drawers on the cabinet has forks and spoons and so on. The bottom shelf has various things to use for maintenance such as a saw, screwdriver, electric cords and so on. In the north cabinet are foods such as rice and potatoes and so on. The cabinets above have dish ware, glasses and my medication plus vitamins. The cabinet on the other side of the stove has things for my plantings and bags and so on. Also my vodka and wines, and so on. The other cabinets on the east side have cooking utensils and various other things such as napkins, a chef apron and light bulbs and so on in case of an emergency. There is a plastic wall picture of the various atomic structures, like helium and hydrogen and so on. Interesting to view while making a salad or fixing up my monthly medicines in one of those plastic containers. I also use that counter to place a canvas while painting in oils. So my kitchen does get a lot of use for such a small area. I do need to clean the floor quite often as it seems to get dirty even though I only live alone, how can that be? Just asking. It seems like I am only at 16 minutes so need to think about what else there is about the kitchen. I have a garbage bag under the sink and a spray container of peroxide to spray into it for fighting the virus pandemic. I also use the top of the frig for storage for extra vodka, wines, tomato juice, orange juice and anything else I need room to store things...I have bowls of fruit on the counter on the east side plus my daily medications so I never miss a dosage. 19:24 minutes left so I think I have pretty much told you as much about my kitchen as is possible. Whew, I am tired.

20 Minute Writing Test about A Description of My Closet

Expressive Writing - Rice University

I spent 20 minutes writing in detail about my walk in closet and forgot to copy the report so no way to get the information I sent back to the research team. Too fast on the draw, hit the send button too soon!

20 Minute Writing Test about A Description of My Bathroom

Expressive Writing - Rice University

You enter my apartment and walk down a long hall into another entrance into the living room and bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom is in the second hallway and is located on the north side of the apartment. No windows, so sad but true, rather dark so one has to have strong lights to see to shave or what ever else one wants to do. Also the fan works but doesn't really take out the hot air and moisture when one showers. As you enter the bathroom, on the left is a bathtub with glass sliding doors, a lower faucet and above a shower head with a water saver on it, not too much water comes out but it can be very hot so that is nice. About six years ago the side corners were leaking as the bathroom is probably 60 years old. The management put me up in a hotel for a week while they ripped out the entire bathtub and walls. They put in one of those combination tub and walls so it is one piece. Less problems with leaks they hope! The tub is on the west side of the door. The north wall has the toilet, a newer one about 14 years old, the type that hangs on the wall so it is easy to clean under it. I have a towel rack over the toilet and a special towel someone gave me years ago, a leopard design because I was going to South Africa on a self drive around the country and on a safari! On top of the toilet are some lotions and one of those yellow ducks that float in the water, so cute, it has a bow tie like it is going to the opera! Now to the east wall. It has a counter about six feet long but only has one sink in it. The surface is a fake marble I believe. Above it is a large mirror and a big light on the ceiling. To the south side wall of the sink is a small wall where I put a glass shelf. I also put one of my oil paintings above the shelf. On the shelf I have several lotions, colones, and some types of medicine for cuts and so on. I put my jewelry on it at times, especially if I am cleaning my rings. To the left of the mirror is a cabinet with four shelves in it. The door is also a mirror so the entire east wall above the counter is one big mirror. On the first shelf are my tooth past, tooth brushes, hair spray, shaving lotion and a few other things. The second shelf has my razor and a comb and hair brush. I also have me package of razor blades in it. The top shelf has fingernail clippers and other nail products. I have several small magnets on the back wall so the nail file and clippers can just be stuck to the wall for ease in finding. Under the counter top is storage. I have a plastic box with toilet paper and other creams for my skin. Nest to the box are extra supplies such as hair spray, shaving cream, soaps and shampoos. The farthest north is another box with things like toilet cleaners, air sprays, tools to unclog toilets and so on. The floor is a linoleum and is easy to clean. On the back of the door are hooks to hang towels to dry when I am finished showering. And that is all I remember after 20 minutes, oh, there is an air spray also on the top of the toilet and that is it for my bathroom report!
