San Francisco General Hospital - Cognitive Study

Cognitive Research Project

Chuck Buntjer - Research Study

General Hospital - 5G - Fifth Floor - San Francisco - 10:00 a.m.

I met with two of the employees and we started the cognitive testing at 10:00 a.m. I had just done two of these within the last three weeks so I was ready. The doctor didn't show up and the woman giving me the tests, had a man sit in to see the overall operation. About half way through she asked the man if he was watching what was going on and he said yes. She said I was probably doing better than anyone else had done on these tests and wanted the man to verify that nothing was done to help me. He said I was doing a fantastic job. I even did the peg board where you put pegs into various positioned holes, first the right hand and then the left. They said the timing for both hands was the same, very rare they said.

The doctor never got there in time as I flew through the testing and I didn't get to see her. The staff I believe, wanted her to see the results and perhaps talk to me.

So I got my $40.00 for an hour and a half and came home.

I was reminded that next Wednesday, inbetween my Virtual Reality testing at Mission Bay, I might have an appointment to come in for an MRI, perhaps at China Basin. I just had a PET scan there a month ago and of course, the MRI at SRI International this week!

  • Put pegs into a board, left handed only, right handed only.
  • Read the actual colors of over 100 words, the word is Red but colored or the word is Green, say green or a mistake, I did all 100 with NO mistakes.
  • Name as many words starting with a letter such as 's' for one minute.
  • Listen to 20 words spoken to you, repeat back how many you can remember.
  • Repeat many of the previous tasks at various intervals, testing memory.
  • Connect letters and numbers in sequence. 1 to A - 2 to B and so on.
  • And various other tasks.
