University of Berkeley - Academic Research on Older Adults - 2018.05.24
On May 24th, 2018, I was at the Downtown Senior Center when I was approached by the University of California at Berkeley. They asked if I would be interested in volunteering for an interview about using tech as an older person. I said yes and they said I would be given $20.00 for an hour or so interview!
We spent the time answering questions from a sheet of paper. Would you be interested in using some of the following:
- A voice activated aid to answer questions.
- A robotic type aid for use when aging as a substitute for a part time care giver.
- A robotic pet such as a dog or cat.
- Special phones and emergency aids.
Things such as are you afraid of using tech in your everyday life?
- Cameras in laptops might be able to access your information.
- Any type of equipment connected to the internet that might eavesdrop in you converstions.
- Probability of being hacked on various equipment.
- Banking and shopping to be accessed and used against one.
