When I left the military, I worked for IBM for a year in their service bureau.  I then moved to Fireman's Fund Insurance as they had the biggest computer center on the west coast at that time.  IBM used part of the installation to test equipment in the design stage so we were able to view many of the latest and greatest products which might or might not be put on the market in the future.  I worked in the Operations Division, Tech Support, QA, Documentation Standards and other areas.  This was good training for when I eventually went into Consulting for major companies such as Boole & Babbage, Schwab, IBM, Bank of America, Deltanet, William-Sonoma, and other major companies.
